The Portal Prize in Speculative Fiction
Stories may be previously published or unpublished, and simultaneous submissions are accepted. Winner receives $1,000 and publication in Easy Street. Finalists receive $100. The winner and all finalists will be published in Portal 10, the prize anthology.
Two copies of the anthology will be supplied to every writer appearing in it. Entry fee is $15. Writers may enter more than once. Original language must be English and length must not exceed 10,000 words. The plot should require a significant suspension of disbelief (typically fantasy, science fiction, horror, magical realism, etc.). Contest participants receive free downloads of prize anthologies to date.
Entry fees are dedicated entirely to prize money and operating expenses. Editors, judges, and other staff at Easy Street and its sister sites are unpaid volunteers.
